Just to let you know . . . my part with you may be ending, but the journey ever ends. Instead it continues to take you wherever God may lead you throughout your life.
This last section is designed in the hopes that you will go where God wants you to go, do what He wants you to do, ignoring what mankind wants and expects of you.
We will finish our part of the journey together by traveling to the beautiful, mountainous, rocky hills of Israel. It is like going back in time as we see the people still wearing robes and many still in tents. (Forgive the fact the photos are actually taken in the neighboring Country of Jordan.)
One of the most exciting sites is seeing a shepherd care for his sheep. Just picture having to stop the car while a herd of sheep are crossing the road. Let’s relate these sheep to us. I am sure that you have heard that Jesus is the shepherd, and we are His sheep. But are you one of his sheep? You may think so, but you may be wrong. I am sure that you are somebody’s sheep (spouse, employer, pastor, etc.) but you need to be one of Christ’s sheep. If you are sitting in a church regularly, you probably are not of Christ’s flock, but of your pastor’s or of a certain denominational belief’s flock instead.
Let’s start with the problem: “And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.” Mark 6:34.
Most of the human race is as a sheep without a shepherd, but why do most supposed Christians not have a true shepherd? If you claim to be a sheep, does God speak to you? “My sheep hear my voice” John 10:27.
If God isn’t talking to you, you need to do some self-examining because you are obviously not one of His sheep. Religion has convinced people that the Bible is the ‘Word of God’. They say that God teaches us and speaks to us through His word (Bible). Let me correct this for you. The books of the Bible are words written by godly men that were inspired. The real “Word of God” is God personally talking to you. Now the Bible does record some instances where the “Word of God” was used (when God spoke to people and the words spoken by Jesus.) Let’s see where the Bible even separates them. “. . . in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, . . . “Acts 17:11. This distinguishes a difference between a spoken word and the scriptures. They received the word, but then they searched the scriptures (or Bible). Did you notice that they didn’t refer to the scriptures (Bible) as the word of God, like churches do today, but as scriptures? The word they received was something totally different and they searched (read) the scriptures. Reading has absolutely nothing to do with hearing the word of God. You hear with your ears and read with your eyes. Now don’t get me wrong, the Bible is very important and should be read and studied regularly and you will benefit from it greatly. However, if you want to hear the word of God, you must submit yourself to Him. It doesn’t come from Bible reading or listening to pastors preach. Remember, many men had a close relationship with God long before the Bible was written or there were churches to attend.
Let’s look at Matthew 4:4. “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” This is a reference to Moses’ writings in Deuteronomy 8:3. You probably have been taught and convinced that this refers to the Bible, but pages don’t come out of the moth of God, but spoken, audible words do. And the Bible wasn’t even written yet.
Here is a list of verses you can look up on your own and see who God talks to:
Genesis 3 – Adam
Genesis 6:13 – Noah
Genesis 15:1 – Abram (word of the Lord in a vision)
Genesis 21:1 - Lord visited Sarah
Genesis 12:1 & 22:1 – Abraham
Genesis 30:17 – Hearkened unto Leah
Genesis 30:22 – Hearkened unto Rachel
Genesis 31:3 – Jacob
Exodus 3 – Moses, burning bush, pharaoh, ten commandments
Joshua 6:2 – Joshua
Judges 7:2 Gideon
Judges 10:11 – Children of Israel
Job 1:7 – Satan
Job 40:1 – Job
Jeremiah 1:4 – Jeremiah
1 Samuel 3:3-11 – Samuel
1 Samuel 23:2 – David
2 Kings 1:3 – Elijah
Isaiah 6 – Isaiah
Amos 7:8 – Amos
Jonah 3:2 – Jonah
Habakkuk 2:2 – Habakkuk
Acts 9:1-6 – Saul/Paul
Acts 9:10-12 – Ananias
Now, God does not speak to everyone the same. Some by inner voice in the head, some audibly, some by heart felt intuition, sometimes an angel speaks for Him in His place. The Lord also gives us dreams and visions.
Still don’t believe that the Lord talks with us today? Have you bought into the lie that God doesn’t work like that in today’s generation, called the Church Age? I've heard from many different Christians that we have been given the word of God in the Bible, so he no longer speaks to us. The men that believe that; know not Christ.
Here are some more verses for you to research:
Exodus 3:4
Genesis 46:2
Isaiah 6:8
Genesis 31:11
Each of these men heard God and spoke with Him. Read the chapter of 1 Samuel 3, where God keeps calling unto Samuel and Samuel runs to Eli (his master) thinking it was Eli speaking (because he heard an audible voice). On the fourth time that the Lord called unto Samuel and Samuel said “Speak, for thy servant heareth.” (vs 10) And the Lord began to have a conversation with him.
This cannot be taken as anything other than the Lord audibly speaking and Samuel hearing Him with his ears, not eyes and then speaking back to the Lord. Samuel heard the Word of God. I know what you are thinking – that was the Old Testament and a different time era, right? Well, if Jesus would have said the He would talk to people and they would hear Him, would you believe it then? Probably not. Here it goes, anyway. Remember in the beginning of this stop in the journey when we saw the sheep and their shepherd? Well, we are going to look at the sheep and hopefully you are on of His sheep. But, if you find out that you are a goat instead (read Matthew 25:32-46) then hopefully, you will repent of your sins, and your man-made religions and truly put your faith in Christ as Saviour instead of just pretending to. Far too many people are putting their faith in the Bible or church instead of the Lord.
Let’s sidetrack for a moment so we can see what the Bible says about putting your faith in church or the Bible. In Exodus 20:3-5 (the first commandment) “Thou shalt have no other god’s before me . . . for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God . . .” Most protestant/evangelicals her this and think only of religions such as; Catholics with bowing before statues and praying to hundreds of saints; Muslims praying to Allah and Muhammed; Buddhists praying to their little fat men (over 10,000 different gods) native Indians praying to rain, sun, moon, wind and other gods, and so forth.
Churches will remind you that possessions, careers, money and even yourself may have been put before God making them your God. Now, all of these are guilty of putting other gods before the one true God. You are also guilty if you put the Bible or church before God. Right now, you are saying that those are important, you never put them before God, but use them to please God. Well, let’s see.
Do you believe that the Bible is the infallible perfect truth? Is this where you put your faith and trust? Let’s use your Bible to prove these thoughts wrong. “Jesus sayeth unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me.” John 14:6. I believe that Jesus just said that He is the truth. He did not say the Bible is the truth, but that He is and that no man cometh unto the father but by Him. You can know God without ever reading a Bible or going to a church. You will know him because He will call unto you and you will know Him better than all those people sitting the pews; all dressed up, putting forth their best, fake, Sunday personality, carrying on about which version of the Bible is correct, how great it is to be in church, meanwhile forgetting our perfect, infallible God.
Has the Bible become your God/Idol? If you bought into the fact that it is the perfect, infallible word of God, then you have placed a book as an idol breaking the 1st commandment. John 1:14 reads “and the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us . . .” This is referring to Christ, so Christ must be the word.
Still doubt??
Revelation 19:11-13
11. “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; (have you figured out that this is referring to Jesus Christ?) and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
HERE IT IS, The answer to what the Word of God really is:
13. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and ARE YOU SITTING DOWN?
13 cont'd his name is called the Word of God.
It doesn’t get any easier than this, that Bible you have declares that Jesus Christ is the Word of God.
Somehow you have let them convince you that Christ has been replaced with a book.
Religion says: The Bible is perfect truth
The Bible says: Jesus said he is the truth. John 14:6
Religion says: The Bible is the way.
The Bible says: Jesus said he is the way. John 14:6
Religion says: The Bible will teach us all of God’s truths:
The Bible says: God will send us a comforter, his own Holy Spirit, that will teach us all things. John 14:16 & John 15:26
Your religious leaders have taught you to put the creation (Bible) above the creator (Christ). Romans 1:25
Nothing that is (or has ever been) on this earth has ever been completely perfect, holy, and true, other than our Messiah, the Saviour of mankind. Christ himself.
Now you may want to rethink the emphasis you put on the Bible. I am not trying to belittle the Bible, it is very valuable and important to us. But, by no means does it have the attributes of Christ. The Bible is not our Messiah, it is not our Saviour, and it didn’t die for us.
Christ’s name is above every other name. Philippians 2:9-11
9. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
And his name is the word of God. Revelation 19:13
Has the church become your god?
1/2
Has your church become your god? I know you are saying it’s not your God, but a place to worship. Well, then, you shouldn’t be afraid to answer these questions, should you?
Part 1:
Part 2:
If you answered 'yes' to the questions in Part 1 and 'no' to the questions in Part 2, then whether you want to admit to it or not, you have made church your god and are continually breaking the first commandment without repentance.
We will be using the book of John when looking at what a sheep is, so turn to Jon 8:47. “He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because you are not of God.” Do you hear god’s words? Remember, how do you hear? You hear with your ears, not your eyes. It never said readeth God’s words, but heareth them. If you don’t hear His words, then plain and simple, “Ye are not of God”.
Now let’s go to John 10:27-29. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”
Once again, “My sheep hear my voice”. They hear with their ears and not with their eyes and it is His voice that they hear, it is not a reading with the eyes of the Bible. When is the last time you used your ears to read the Bible? If you do hear God talking, do you follow Him? They go hand in hand. If you hear his voice, then you will also follow Him - unless you have ignored Him or told Him no, then you obviously are not following Him and you probably won’t hear his voice again – until you repent and turn back to Him.
“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord and do not the things which I say?” Luke 6:46 read through verse 49. Do you do what the Lord says? When is the last time the Lord said to you, “I want you to spend your life attending church one or more times a week, in the same denomination, never searching out the truth, and then going about your life like normal.”? Do you really think that God’ calling for you is to sit in a church pew? Has God ever once told you to give your money to the church so they can send out missionaries or do the Lord’s work in your place, so that you don’t have to?
NO HE HAS NOT!!
Don’t lie to me or to yourself. Churches teach you to just give them your money and they will spread the gospel since you can’t. They are more qualified and educated than you. Is this what you think? IF so, then you are mistakenly wrong. God is glorified when you go out and do the Lord’s work. Ask yourself – what are you doing for God? If the answers are that you attend church, you tithe, give to missions, you may even shout ‘Amen’ once in a while. If these are your answers, then, guess what? You are not doing anything for the Lord. As you read through your Bible you will see Jesus time after time, telling people to walk away from everything for Him, he tells people to lay down their lives for Him. Yet you think your great task is to sit in church. WOW! God must be honored for your massive sacrifice, just don’t let Him see you new car and fancy home.
Q: What actually is the Lord’s work?
A: Whatever the Lord (not a preacher) tells you to do (and it probably doesn’t have anything to do with sitting in church).
If you are still reading this, then maybe you are more than the average church goer. Ask yourself, do you really want to be a sheep? Most churches today are preaching this garbage of lies called the prosperity gospel. Does your church tell you that God is going to bless you financially? Give money and it shall be given back 10 fold, reap and you shall sow? If you are hearing stuff like this, then your church has fallen into one of Satan’s traps. It ell you, run from it as fast as you can, for your preacher is not a man of God. He is not a sheep, but instead a goat.
Do you really want to know what God does with His sheep?
Then keep reading. I must warn you – you probably aren’t going to like it.
I will only list a couple of verses, but you can read all of Matthew 10:16-22. “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves” verse 16. “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake" verse 22.
WOW! What do you think will happen to a lone sheep in a pack of wolves? Also, it says you shall be hated of ALL men.
Are you hated of all men? No, you’re not, your fellow unsaved church crowd members just love you. Jesus said hated of all, that includes the religious crowds. Remember the Pharisees were the church-goers of Jesus’ day. Now, when your friends and family are disgusted with you and don’t want to be around you or discuss beliefs with you and your church runs you out NOW you are seeing it, and guess what? It means you are doing something right! Good for you! God is calling you.
Do you still want to be His sheep, after finding out that you will be fed to the wolves? Look at your preacher as he leaves his nice home in his newer car and in his fine suit and ask yourself this: Does he look like someone that has just been fed to the wolves?? Now look around at your packed-out church, possibly has several thousand members. Do you see all the people waiting in line to shake the preachers hand, hoping to get just a minute or two to talk and receive his greeting. Again, ask yourself, is he hated of all men? Is he a man of God or not? You do the math. When people lined up for Christ they usually had rocks in their hands.
Luke 14:26 "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple." Are you ready to have not a single important person in your life, other than the Lord? Nothing must come before Him for He is a jealous God.
Matthew 9:9 "And as Jesus passed forth from thence, e saw a man named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him" Also read Matthew 4:18-22.
Are you ready to walk away from your home, job, and family to follow the Lord? In Matthew 19:27 "then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?" Peter states that he, himself and other apostles forsook all and followed Christ. They left jobs, family, friends, homes, and land, to have a life with no possessions, little money, many hardships, imprisonments, and eventually, most were put to death for their beliefs. A be difference from what church people expect from God today. Yet God's expectations from us have never changed.
I have truly enjoyed being chosen to take you on this life changing journey and hope that it has benefitted you, put thoughts in your mind and brought you to know God or brought you closer to Him.
Feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, compliments or complaints. All are welcome. We are not a church and we freely roam the countryside distributing literature to hopefully guide people to the truth – but most importantly to glorify God through our lives. I hope as your life’s journey continues, you will seek Him out and challenge and question all religious and political authority.
